The Swing Instructor

"Inside every golfer, there is a great golf swing. "
Mr. Archie's Obituary
Archie Leland Burroughs, Jr, 86, of Hoover, Alabama went to his heavenly home on December 3, 2025. Archie was born in Alabama City on October 24, 1939, to Rev. A.L. Burroughs, Sr. and Beatrice Baldwin Burroughs.
He was a faithful and devoted member of the Metropolitan Church Of God for over 45 years. He served on the Board of Trustees, was an Administrative Elder, and the church clerk/treasurer. He was given the honor of church clerk Emeritus. He also served on the finance committee and the building committee. He was the head usher and last but not least, he was the beloved “candy man.”
Archie was owner and operator of The Truck Shop, Inc. for over 30 years, and owner and operator of Pro Golf Discount for 10 years. In his early years, he loved fishing and participated in all kinds of tournaments and made many lifelong friends.
After the loss of his first wife, Doris Dunnam Burroughs in 1976, a couple of friends from church took him to play golf and that’s when his love for golf began.
After going into the golf business, he quickly learned he wasn’t a salesman, so he began working on and repairing golf clubs. It was then he realized it was more about the technique of the golf swing to improve their game. So, being a mechanic by trade, he developed a way to analyze a person’s golf swing with high tech cameras and computer programs to teach a person how to improve their golf swing. Archie always said he never taught lessons for the money, he always did it because he loved it!
His latest accolade was the honor of a lifetime for him. This past spring, Archie was inducted into the Birmingham Golf Association Hall Of Fame. He was so humbled by this great honor.
He is preceded in death by: Rev. A.L. Burroughs, Sr and Beatrice Baldwin Burroughs (parents); Doris Dunnam Burroughs (his first wife and mother of his girls); Flavis L.
